Happy Wednesday, my friends!! Today we woke up to SNOW!! In the south, snow is not that common, but we’ve seen two snows in the last 6 weeks! Woohoo!! Today’s snow was extra special because Matt and I are celebrating 6 months of marriage!! I know I post a lot about celebrating this and that with our relationship… 100 days, one year of dating… etc… but I think that one of the ways we’ve had such a happy start to our marriage is because we find things to celebrate together!! Having a spirit of joy and gratitude in our relationship has really helped us to show kindness to each other.
Celebrating Six Months
We, of course, had made plans to go to our favorite restaurant, Golden Brown & Delicious. We had our first date there, and we go there once a month to celebrate our monthiversary. When we woke up to snow, I thought we wouldn’t get to go. Matt went into work, and I didn’t want to drive in the snowy conditions (after all, I am a southerner). Well, we had a great compromise!! Matt was able to come home from work early and work from home, and since GB&D is only 5 minutes from his work, he picked it up and brought it home for us!! We’ve been spending the rest of the afternoon working together. I wish we could do this every day!
It has been a busy couple of months for us. This holiday season was the first time that we got to celebrate with two different families! Twice the festivities meant twice the fun, but also twice the food and twice the sleep deprivation! Haha, but we enjoyed it for sure!! We didn’t make up too many of our own traditions for the holidays, but we did get to celebrate a nice Christmas morning together complete with a pancake breakfast and hot cocoa.
Relationships over Being Busy
This year more than ever I’ve found it hard to gain my momentum after the holidays. For some reason, I feel as if I haven’t accomplished anything, but I haven’t been idle!! I’m hoping to get back to consistent blogging next week. The main thing that I am learning this season is that people and relationships are more important than social media, blogging, or feeling like I’m staying on top of my marketing game. To me, serving my clients well is more important than creating an Instagram story. More than that, my family is even more important than my clients. I’ve been able to spend a lot of time with my family and close friends over the past coupe months, and for that I am so grateful!
Cultivating Gratitude
Through it all, Matt has been just the sweetest. One thing that we have been determined about since we started dating is to always speak highly of each other when we talk to others. We strive to never tear the other person down or say negative things to others about each other. It’s true that the more we say things, the more they become true to us. I always talk about Matt’s kindness because he IS kind, but also because talking about it all the time helps me to notice the little ways that he is kind day in and day out.
One small example of his kindness is that he braved the cold weather for a few minutes to take some photos with me today!
We have so enjoyed our beautiful home and sharing our lives together for the past six months. Here’s to many more!!!
I also took advantage of the snow to photograph our beautiful rings!!!
And here are some more shots of some foliage in the snow!!
If it’s cold where you are, I hope you’re spending your evening warming up with some hot cocoa or snuggled up with your loved ones!!
Happy Wednesday, and Happy Snow Day!!!
