Josh & Bethany’s wedding was one of my favorite weddings to date. First of all, the venue was stunning! John and Marcia of Thistlewood Down did so many little things to make the day perfect. Marcia prepared lovely finger foods for the bridesmaids and provided yummy tea in beautiful fine china. Also, the weather was unpredictable, which made things a lot of fun for me. The day started out like a normal South Carolina summer day… hot and humid. Then, dreary storm clouds approached. It rained and rained and rained. Josh & Bethany had planned an outdoor wedding, so rain was not on the agenda! Amazingly, the clouds parted just before the ceremony. Because of the rain, the temperature cooled off significantly, and the sun was radiant, making the ceremony more perfect than they even imagined. We also got to witness the most gorgeous sunset during the reception. But what about their wedding made it my favorite? It wasn’t the beautiful venue, or the tasteful decorations, or Bethany’s gorgeous dress, or even the perfect blend of Freelance Whales and Sufjan Stevens playing from the stereo before the ceremony. It was the people. It was the love that Josh and Bethany shared for each other and the love that their friends and family poured out to them. During the toasts, friend after friend of Josh and Bethany gave small glimpses into their lives, their beautiful love story, and their hearts full with love for the Lord. I felt honored and humbled just to be present and to hear a little bit of their testimonies. The rest of the evening was as sweet as ever, and I loved working with Josh & Bethany. They are so much in love, as I’m sure you can tell from the photos. I wish them the very best together!
Special thanks to my second shooter, Katherine Chu. Some of her work is included below.
