What to Do When You Want To Quit

Feelings of failure can feel all too familiar to the solopreneur. Whether justified or not, we can tend to be our own worst critic. Cut yourself some slack, and listen in to today’s episode all about what to do when you want to quit your business.

Stop and reach out

When you feel like you want to quit. Stop, and reach out. Take time to journal. I like to talk about the negatives and then follow those up with the positives. Talk to your community or a friend/mentor.
Through it all, remind yourself that you are not alone!

Identify the problem

Get curious about why you’re feeling this way. Are you overworking yourself? Is the work you’re doing not enjoyable or life giving? Are your finances not in a good place? Are you not getting clients? What marketing efforts are you doing? Really take a moment to pause on these questions. Evaluate your situation honestly.

Make the hard decisions

When we are “yes” people for everyone but ourselves, that is a short road to burnout. Take a hard look at your current state, and cut out what’s not serving you.

Reevaluate your goals

Being honest not only with where you are but where you’d like to go is key. Ask yourself these questions:

  • What do you want out of your business?
  • Why are you doing it?
  • What does success mean to you?
  • What will bring you closer to that version of success?

Create a strategy

Strategy is a big word. But it’s really just the steps you take to achieve your goal. Strategy brings clarity. It’s your lifeline when you feel overwhelmed.
