Today we’re going to chat about the eight spheres of your business involved in a launch. When launching a product, such as a course or a digital offer in a traditional, Jeff Walker-style launch, it’s easy to think that the only key areas are marketing and product development. However, there are actually eight different spheres involved, and understanding these can help you manage your launch more effectively and avoid feeling overwhelmed. Let’s dive in!
1. Product Development
The first sphere, and probably the most obvious one, is product development. This is where you spend time creating your offer. A common mistake I’ve seen is people working on their product before doing any market research or starting to sell spots. I recommend using a waitlist to pre-sell your course or offer, ensuring there’s interest and refining it based on feedback. This approach can make a huge difference in the success of your product.
2. Marketing
The second sphere involves marketing. This includes promoting your offer on social media, through emails, blog posts, podcast episodes, YouTube content, and other channels. A big mistake here is not dedicating enough time to marketing. Remember, your audience only sees a fraction of your content, so you need to keep talking about your offer consistently. I like to spend at least a month promoting my offers, and then repeat the cycle after a few months.
3. Sales
Next, let’s talk about sales. Promoting your offer and closing sales are two different things. Sales require a distinct strategy, including setting up sales funnels, offering free guides or webinars, and possibly even having sales calls. It’s essential to know how you will actually close the sales, whether through direct messages, emails, or calls.
4. Customer Support
Customer support is another crucial sphere. Be prepared to answer questions and help with any technical issues your customers might face. An FAQ page can be helpful, but also be ready to respond to direct inquiries. Your users will appreciate the support, and it will enhance their overall experience with your product.
5. Logistics and Operations
Logistics and operations cover the backend processes, such as setting up funnels and onboarding new customers. Make sure that once someone signs up, they know what to do next and everything runs smoothly.
6. Finance
Finance is another important aspect. Set budgets and goals, and understand how much revenue you can expect based on your email list size and marketing efforts. I recommend setting good, better, and best goals to help you stay motivated and on track.
7. IT and Technical Support
IT and technical support include ensuring that all your software integrations work seamlessly. This might involve making sure your email platform talks to your course platform, among other technical details. It’s also about offering technical support to your customers to ensure they have a smooth experience.
8. Executive Leadership
Finally, executive leadership involves setting goals for yourself, managing your time effectively, and knowing your capacity. Plan your launches during times when you can dedicate enough energy to them, and don’t forget to celebrate your progress and successes.
