Gassaway Mansion Blush and Gray Wedding | Emily & Austin

Austin & Emily were married on Saturday at The Gassaway Mansion in Greenville, SC! Emily texted me earlier in the week telling me that there was a 60% chance of thunderstorms on Saturday. It’s true, the weather forecast actually showed rain and storms ALL. WEEK. LONG. As we approached their date, the chances didn’t get any better. Even on Friday morning, it was looking like it would be raining still! I encouraged Emily that she had an amazing team of vendors on her side, but also that I’ve seen many wedding day miracles! And a wedding-day-miracle is exactly what we got!!! There were a few drizzles just before the ceremony, but it was completely rain free and even SUNNY for our portrait time!! A complete change from what the forecast was showing!

Ok, so the most amazing thing about this wedding wasn’t the weather. But I think even the fact that the weather cooperated shows just how truly wonderful of a couple Emily and Austin are! They radiate joy and love for each other. They were highschool sweethearts. As Emily wrote in her vows to Austin, she waited 3,131 days for this moment. And her big day finally came!! She could not have looked more stunning in her dress from The Castle Prom & Bridal. The perfect dress for a venue that looks just like a castle. I am in love with her lace and beaded details!

Without a doubt, my favorite part of the day was their sweet first look on the Gassaway Mansion porch. When Emily first contacted me, she was pretty sure that she and Austin would not share a first look on their wedding day. She knew that Austin would cry when he saw her, and she wanted to save that big moment for the ceremony! The more we talked about it, the more she started to lean towards doing the first look after all. And holy. cow. I can tell you for sure that they are both SO glad that they did it!!! Just look at Austin’s priceless reaction to seeing his bride for the first time. I heard both of them say independently of each other that they were nervous until they saw each other, and then they were just excited. This is why I love first looks!!! Not just because you get more portrait time, but truly because it calms all of your nerves and makes you just so excited to marry the love of your life!!!

These two have incredible families and friends by their side. It was such an honor for me to be there and see how truly loved they are! Austin & Emily, I love you guys and wish you all the best! Enjoy the Dominican Republic, and enjoy your wedding photos! Congratulations!
