Today I’m sharing Alex and Amanda’s wedding! I am SO excited about this post. It was just the BEST day! Their Christmas-inspired winter wedding was absolutely amazing. I just love the colors they picked and the way they decorated everything! The forecast for Alex & Amanda’s wedding showed rain ALL day long. And yes, it pretty much did rain all day long. But even though it was soggy and dreary outside, it was the complete opposite for these two and everything going on indoors.
If you haven’t already seen their proposal post and their engagement post, go check it out to hear the full story on these two beautiful souls. Amanda is an artist, and Alex is a musician, so I knew everything would be stunning. But I was completely blown away! They decorated the reception hall with Christmas trees, garlands, and so many other fun touches. The ornaments on the trees were handmade. Alex & Amanda gave them out as wedding favors! Amanda’s sister, Bethany, made the bouquets, and Amanda designed the invitations. Alex brought along his vintage record player and some Christmas records for people to put on. Alex himself composed some of the music in the ceremony! A string quartet played all of the music beautifully.
The weekend before the wedding, there was a big snowstorm in Greenville. It brought with it lots of downed limbs and trees. It worked out to Alex & Amanda’s advantage. Much of the greenery came from trees or limbs that had fallen down over the weekend. I absolutely love the trees they set up at the front entrance of the church! There are just so many details that make their day unique. Can we talk about her dress for a minute?! Doesn’t she look like a DREAM?! I am obsessed with her dress. It’s so elegant and suits her personality so well. I love the lace details, the color, the cut, and the way it flowed as she moved. She is a true beauty! The bridesmaids dresses were also exquisite! The different fabrics, colors, and cuts went together so wonderfully. And I love the velvet! Everything was just perfect!
I asked Amanda how she knew Alex was “the one,” and here’s what she said: “Early on, I prayed a lot about how you could know that you could glorify God more as a couple than as a single, and at first I wasn’t sure. I was happy being by myself. However, as I got to know Alex, I could see that he challenged me and encouraged me in so many ways that I didn’t even realize was possible. We also taught a Wednesday night kids class together, and serving in that was confirmation that we really could in some ways serve God better together.” They are so well-suited and they both love God and love serving others. I can’t wait to see how God uses them in their life together!
Both Amanda and Alex were so relaxed on their wedding day. If they were nervous or stressed, it didn’t show at all! Their wedding was at 6PM and they chose to do a first look, so we didn’t have to rush at all. The bridesmaids were relaxed too! We ended up finishing everything ahead of schedule which never happens! I think it is a testament to how great Alex and Amanda both are. They knew they were marrying the right person, and they knew that God was in control of everything. Even the rain! And nothing could steal their joy.
Congrats, Alex & Amanda! Thanks for letting me share in your special day!
