Do you set goals at the beginning of the year and find yourself slipping around February or March? So many of us are amazing at setting goals, but we fail at sticking to them. The key is to have a system that helps you stay on track with your goals.
In this episode, I’m giving you my three best tips for staying consistent with your goals even when things get tough.
This episode is a replay of episode 39 which originally aired in May of 2022.
Why you aren’t staying consistent with your goals
The first consideration for being more consistent with your goals is to understand why you keep giving up on them in the first place. Here are a few reasons:
- You don’t create a plan to see your goal through to the end
- Self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and comparison hold you back
Both of these hurdles can prevent you from following through with your goals. So many of us, me included, start projects that we don’t see through to the end because we didn’t have a plan and we allow imposter syndrome to convince us to quit before we finish.
Three tips to consistently crush your goals
- Create a specific plan for what it is that you want to do and what it’s gonna look like when it’s completed. Include deadlines in your plan to keep you on track.
- Schedule times to review and refresh your goal. Check in with your progress and audit whether or not the goal is still something you want to accomplish or if you should let it go. I like to do this on a quarterly basis.
- Connect with a community that will support your goals. A community that meets on a regular basis, like the Rising Tide Society, can help keep you accountable, encourage you along the way, and strategize with you when you’re in a rut.
Questions to ask during your goal audit
- What’s working?
- What’s not working?
- What am I proud of from the last quarter? What went really well?
- What can I let go of?
- What are my personal wins?
- What and who am I thankful for?
- Which goals did I complete?
- Which goals are still in progress?
- How can I tweak my strategy?
Crush your goals in a community
Having a group of friends or business besties that you can share your goals with will keep you motivated and accountable because you’ll have other people supporting you and checking in on your progress. When you feel stuck with your goals, they will also be there to help you strategize and pivot. You can share your struggles and pain points, and they can offer helpful advice from their own similar experiences. Best of all, they will be your cheerleaders throughout the entire process.
